Come see what happens in people's lives when they discover God through the study of His Word, the Bible. Our Rochester, MI class meets weekly during the school-year for women and children with nursery through middle school classes in-person at Rochester Christian Church. The online classes are for women. Each adult class member receives a course-book with a commentary and home study questions unless she prefers that same content online only. Each week you will participate in small group discussions and large group teaching. Core Coffees will provide the opportunity for sharing and relationship building within your Core Group.
Our study for 2023-2024 is: Ruth and Samuel & Ephesians.
A course description of the books of Ruth & 1st & 2nd Samuel are:
The Old Testament books of Ruth and 1 and 2 Samuel describe the faith journeys of men and women like us. Sure, they may have been prophets or priests, or kings—but they were also sons and daughters, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers. They struggled in the same ways we do. They experienced deferred hopes and dreams, broken relationships, shameful failures and personal trauma, just as we do. It’s what they did with those disappointments that matters. In this study, you will see people who took their pain and anger to God—and those who did not. And in either case, you will see how God remained faithful.
Ephesians course description:
Before the foundations of the world, God had His people in mind. In love, He chose, forgave, and redeemed them. He adopted them to be His very own beloved children. Ephesians tells the story of God’s eternal plan to unite people who had been estranged from Him and one another into a beautiful community that reflects His glory to the world and even to the spiritual realms. This study will guide participants to engage with what it means to be reconciled to God, how that is possible, and the amazing benefits God gives as a result. It will also give practical guidance for how to apply these eternal truths to your everyday life.
Our class meets on Thursdays from 9:30-11:30 and class does not meet when the Rochester Community Schools are off.
Regarding Registration Fees and Tax-Deductible Contributions:
Since its beginning in 1975, the philosophy of CBS has always been to be an every-person’s Bible study, available to all.
Each class member is asked to pay a registration fee to help defray the ministry’s operating costs; however, registration scholarships are available. The registration fee is not tax-deductible. The registration fees provide for less than 20% of the costs required to fulfill the mission of CBS, including all US types of classes and our international support of CBSI.
CBS is a participation-based ministry. CBS curriculum is available only to participants currently attending a recognized CBS class. It is not offered for purchase or distribution to anyone who is not part of a CBS class. CBS lesson books are copyrighted.
Generous and voluntary tax-deductible donations from class participants enable more people to know God through His Word. The 2023-24 CBS annual budget breaks down to about $185 per US adult member. But all giving in CBS is voluntary and class members who are unable to contribute should continue to attend without feeling any pressure to give.
CBS is committed to financial transparency and is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. The latest audited financial statements are available on the CBS website.
